LG has a levitating speaker because it's about time for gadgets to start flying

We're living in the future. Although they're not yet available to everyone, we do have jetpacks, self-driving cars and spaceships. So it's our right to demand gadgets that are levitating in the air for no apparent reason, right?

LG just announced one such gadget, the imaginatively named Levitating Portable Speaker (or PJ9).

It's a wireless, 360-degree omnidirectional speaker that flies above its station, while producing some deep tones thanks to a built-in subwoofer. 

While it looks quite unassuming, the speaker has a few cool tricks up its sleeve. When its 10-hour battery is low, it automatically descends down to its station and charges wirelessly, without interrupting music playback.  Read more...
