Make really slick GIFs with text that follows movement, using Google's Motion Stills app

Google's Motion Stills app just got a sweet update, allowing you to add text that can track moving objects in a video automatically.

The text follows motion, and can help produce a pretty slick effect on your GIFs.

Sadly for Android users, the app is iOS-only, because it's made specifically for the iPhone's Live photos — the 1.5 seconds of video that the phone (and iPad) captures before and after a still photo is taken.

In the app, it only supports photos taken with the Live function toggled on, so you won't be able to do the text effect on videos, for instance. Read more...
