This 5-second video will crash your iPhone

Reddit users uncovered a bug in Apple's iOS software Tuesday that causes iPhones to freeze after playing a short, corrupted MP4 file.

The devices crash after about 10 seconds when viewing the video via the default player in iMessage. So, don't text it to your friends (unless you're a jerk).

The problem reportedly only occurs when the video is sent as a link rather transferred as a file, although one Reddit commenter on /r/Apple reported that he received the video as a file on WhatsApp and it also caused his phone to crash.

Mashable tested out the video that causes the bug, and it did indeed crash an iPhone 6S running iOS 10.1.1 when it was sent as a link via iMessage. Read more...
