Stunning timelapse shows solar-powered plane make its way across the world

It has been 16 months since Solar Impulse 2 took off from Abu Dhabi and started its ambitious around-the-world voyage. Now, it's on the verge of completing the circle. 

With just one leg left from Egypt to the United Arab Emirates for the solar-powered plane and its pilot, Bertrand Piccard, the Solar Impulse 2 team released a mesmerizing timelapse following it on its journey through 2016 recorded on a GoPro.

Follow the intrepid plane, which flies using just solar power, as it soars from Hawaii to San Francisco, then on to Phoenix, Tulsa, Dayton, Lehigh Valley and New York, then across the Atlantic to Seville and then Cairo. Read more...
