Android N gets enhanced VR functions with Daydream

One of the biggest new features of Google's next-generation Android N mobile software gives much more support for virtual reality. 

Google announced on Wednesday at its Google I/O conference that its VR mode on Android N will be called Daydream. It will be available on a range of smartphones including Samsung, HTC, LG, Huawei, ZTE, Asus and Alcatel

According to Google, Daydream will reduce VR latency down to 20 milliseconds, which is about the same as the DK2 version of the Oculus Rift a few years ago

Part of the presentation also included two reference designs for VR devices, including a fairly familiar-looking headset and a controller. The controller is also designed to have sensors that detect motion and allow the user to correspond their movements in VR to their movements in real space.  Read more...
