Chrome reaches 1 billion monthly mobile users with 50th release

Google Chrome just pushed out its 50th release, coming almost eight years after it originally launched. With it, Google released a bunch of statistics about Chrome on its blog.

According to Google, Chrome is used by 1 billion mobile users per month, and according to Stat Counter it has the highest use among mobile users, accounting for over 33% of mobile traffic. Throw in desktop and tablet users and Chrome powers a nearly 50% share of traffic.

Google also gave us a look at how often Chrome's features are used each month. Around 771 billion web pages are loaded, 3.6 billion pages are automatically translated, more than 500 billion characters are filled in thanks to autofill, and users are protected from dangerous website or malicious content 145 million times.
