The world's fastest convertible just did 265.6 mph

Move over, Bugatti. The world's fastest convertible is now from Texas.

Clocked doing an astounding 265.5 mph, the American-made Hennessey Venom GT Spyder is now officially the world's fastest convertible.

It smashed the previous world's-fastest convertible record set by the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport Vitesse by more than 11 mph.

The Texas-based carmaker Hennessey also set another record with its Venom GT hardtop in 2014 when it reached 270.4 mph at the Kennedy Space Center.

These cars are capable of such insane speeds because they're powered by a 1,451-horsepower 7.0-liter V8 engine. To put that into perspective, that's more than eight Toyota Camrys worth of power.  Read more...
