Mac users will finally get add-ins for Microsoft Office, including Starbucks

Mac users will soon be able to do a lot more with Microsoft Office.

Add-ins, extensions that allow third-party apps to run inside Office, will soon roll out to Mac versions of the Office suite. Support for the plugins will be available on Mac in the coming weeks, Microsoft says.

Microsoft also plans to make add-ins available for Office's Android apps, though it's not clear when that will be; Rob Howard, director of Office 365 ecosystem marketing, would only say that Android is "on the roadmap."

Since add-ins for Outlook and Outlook.com were first announced at last year's Build developer conference, developers have created more than 100 extensions (there are more than 1,000 for the entire Office suite).
