Microsoft CEO: 'Bots are the new apps'
Facebook and Google aren't the only tech giants envisioning a bot-filled future.
Apparently undeterred from last week's epic disaster that was the Tay Twitterbot, Microsoft's chief executive took the stage at the company's Build developer conference to outline his vision for the future of bots.
"Bots are the new apps," CEO Satya Nadella declared during Wednesday's keynote. Still, he was quick to address the failings of Tay, which the company pulled last week after it began tweeting racist statements
Nadella noted Tay had been successful in Asia and said the company was still working to learn why conversational bots may work differently in different countries. He also revealed the three tenets of the company philosophy when it comes to bots: They should augment human abilities and experiences as well as be trustworthy, inclusive and respectful, Nadella said.
