Tinder acquisition hints it's thinking beyond the hookup

Tinder may soon let you do a lot more than swipe right.

The company is acquiring Humin, the San Francisco startup behind the contact-management app of the same name. Humin is also behind Knock Knock, an app for connecting with people nearby

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but Humin cofounders Ankur Jain and David Wyler will stay on as the vice president of product and vp of partnerships, respectively. Much of the rest of Humin's 14-person team will also remain at what will become Tinder's first San Francisco office

Tinder plans to incorporate Humin's technology into future products, Tinder CEO Sean Rad said in a statement released by the company Tuesday. Humin, the contact management app, and Knock Knock will both shut down as standalone services, though they'll still work for existing users for the time being. Read more...
