Browser maker Opera receives $1.2 billion offer from Chinese companies

Opera's search for a buyer may soon come to an end, with a generous offer from a group of Chinese companies.

The 20-year-old Norwegian company is perhaps known best for its web browser, and announced to its shareholders on the Oslo Stock Exchange that it's received a 10.5 billion Norwegian Krone ($1.2 billion) offer that values it at a 53% premium, or at 71 kroner ($8.28) a share.

The offer for 100% of the company comes from a group known as Golden Brick Silk Road, made up of Chinese software firms Beijing Kunlun and Qihoo 360, and investment firm Yonglian. Read more...
