Google to test self-driving cars in Kirkland, Washington this month

Just like America's current generation of hipsters, Google's self-driving project is moving to the Pacific Northwest.

Google announced Wednesday that it has selected Kirkland, Washington as the latest city in which the tech giant will test its self-driving cars. It expects to have cars on the public roads of Kirkland by the end of February.

Last year, Google expanded outside its Mountain View, California headquarters and began testing cars in Austin, Texas. Having collected lots of data on different driving environments, traffic patterns, and road conditions, Google is keen to test its systems in the inclement weather of Kirkland. Read more...
