Light's L16 takes 10 photos and stitches them into a 52-megapixel image

LAS VEGAS — Can Light's $1,699 L16 camera, which is about the size of three iPhone 6 Plus's stacked together, really replace a DSLR and and a bunch of lenses worth about $5,000?

The folks at Light believe it can. I got to check out a prototype of the L16 camera at CES. The camera's technology looks promising, but it's still got a ways to go before it ships to customers this summer.

The L16 doesn't look like your typical camera. Instead of one lens, it has 16 camera modules, each with 13-megapixels. The modules are broken down by focal lengths: five 35mm lenses, five 70mm lenses and six 120mm lenses. Read more...
