All signs lead to Apple dropping the headphone jack on the iPhone 7

Prepare your pitchforks, it looks increasingly likely that Apple will indeed ditch the headphone jack on its next iPhone.

Fast Company cites a source "with knowledge of the company's plans" as saying that Apple will drop the headphone jack on the iPhone 7, presumably to make the device even thinner.

This news follows a report from the Japanese Mac blog Macotakara back in November, which essentially said the same thing.

According to Fast Company, Apple will work with Cirrus Logic to make its audio chipsets work with the Lightning port on the iPhone

The system might even have built-in noise canceling technology to better help drown out background noise for calls and music. Read more...
