Your next GoPro could turn slo-mo video into beautiful hi-res footage

Video image processing chip maker Ambarella has taken their low-powered tech to the next level. Their new H2 board is capable of shooting 4K resolution at 120 frames per second (fps) — turning slow motion video into smooth, high-resolution footage

We had an opportunity to shoot some test clips on their development kit and the results are quite impressive. You might not know the name Ambarella but their tech has been an enabling component in GoPro Hero cameras for years. The GoPro Hero3 Black (released 2013) was the first camera capable of 4K, but limited to 15 fps. The Hero4 (released 2014) boasted 4K resolution at a much more useable 30 fps. So it might be safe to assume the next major GoPro or popular consumer camera-enabled drone could be capable of 4K at 60 fps or maybe even 120 fps. Read more...
