Ford's GT supercar will have a Gorilla Glass windshield, just like your phone

Lightweight Gorilla Glass keeps the screen on your smartphone virtually scratch- and shatter-free. Now, it will try to do the same for the Ford GT supercar windshield.

During the development of its GT supercar, the American automaker reached out to glass manufacturer Corning to see if it could create a Gorilla Glass windshield. Corning said yes.

The inclusion of Gorilla Glass on the 600-plus horsepower supercar — the windshield, rear bulkhead glass and engine cover will all be formed from it — is more than just a fancy feature on the spec sheet.
