What dominated Asia's Google search terms in 2015

SINGAPORE — Google just released its annual search trends for 2015, and some of the biggest events to capture headlines ranged from tragedies like the Paris attacks to the FIFA scandal in sports, to celebrity gossip around people like Lamar Odom.

Drilling down the topics to some of Asia's cities, it's clear that people here were concerned with a wide breadth of issues, but many of those were related to environmental concerns and natural disasters in the region.

The annual illegal burning of crops in Indonesia, for instance, made it to the top search in Singapore, which was affected by the smog that drifted over to the island state. Singaporeans were also worried about the spread of the MERS (Middle East Respiratory Syndrome) virus, which was also the top search in South Korea, which suffered an outbreak this year. Read more...
