Uber finally has a desktop app, but there's a catch

Uber's first desktop app has arrived, but, there's a catch: You'll still need a smartphone in order to take a ride.

The ride hailing company rolled out its app for Windows 10 Wednesday, which allows users to access Uber from their desktop and from Windows Phones. Though it marks Uber's first desktop app, riders will still need to use their smartphones to finish a ride.

The desktop version of the service comes courtesy of Microsoft's Universal Windows Apps, which were introduced alongside Windows 10 earlier this year. Uber's desktop app allows users to access the same features as the smartphone app, including hailing rides and editing payment and account settings. Read more...
