Porsche votes to send the Mission E all-electric sports sedan into production

The all-electric sports sedan is about to get a lot more interesting and, likely, faster. The Porsche's board has voted to send the Mission E into production by the end of the decade.

If you missed the unveiling earlier this year at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the Mission E — then in concept form — is a true Tesla Model S fighter. It's capable of doing 0 to 62 mph in less than 3.5 seconds, and it boats a range of over 310 miles.

Importantly, thanks to an "800-volt charger unit specially developed for the car, which is twice as powerful as today's quick-charge systems," Porsche says in its press release, "the lithium-ion batteries integrated within the vehicle floor have enough power again for 80 percent of the range after just 15 minutes."
