Roborace is the world's first driverless racing championship

The creators of the Formula E all-electric racing series have announced a new motoring championship called "Roborace." It combines the fast-paced excitement of alternative energy racing with the thrill of robot competition.

And, no, there's no need to check your calendars; it's not April Fool's Day. People are really planning to race driverless cars.

Roborace will serve as a support race to the headlining Formula E races during the 2016-17 season.
