Elon Musk: 500-mile-range Teslas are 'less than 10 years away'

Would you consider an electric car as your main mode of transportation if it could go 500 miles on a single charge?

According to Tesla founder Elon Musk, such a car is "less than 10 years away."

Tesla's current Model S can go 270 miles on a single charge. Compared with other EVs on the market, which average between 80 miles and 100 miles per charge, that figure is pretty impressive

But for Musk, 270 miles is just the starting point.

"A 500-mile range car, in the current form factor, I think that's probably less than 10 years away," Musk predicted, speaking with Ron Barron from Baron Capital Management at the 2015 Baron Investing Conference last Friday. Read more...
