Report: Volkswagen engineers admit to manipulating emissions data
Perhaps the 20-person estimate of people responsible for VW's growing emissions scandal isn't so small after all.
According to German newspaper Bild am Sonntag (by way of Reuters), Volkswagen engineers have admitted to tampering with emissions data of the brand's cars.
In March 2012, then-Chief Executive Martin Winterkorn set lofty emissions goals, determined to cut emissions by 30% by 2015. Rather than tell their superiors this would be a near-impossible feat to achieve, engineers instead set to illegally falsify emissions data, according to the report. Read more...
