Construction of $150 million hyperloop test track reportedly beginning in weeks

It's still hard for me to get my head around the fact that Elon Musk's concept of rocketing people through a magnetized tube at near 800 mph is still more than just the product of a fever dream. And, yet, despite logistical hurdles, Hyperloop Transportation Technologies (HTT) is reportedly set to begin construction on the first hyperloop test track in a couple weeks.

For those who haven't been following the hyperloop concept closely, it's a form of travel slightly akin to a high-speed train. Instead of riding on rails, the passenger compartment of the hyperloop is magnetically suspended inside a tube and — when running at full speed — could move people from Los Angeles to San Francisco in about 30 minutes.
