CUPERTINO — Apple isn't just a technology company. It's increasingly becoming a luxury brand in its own right.

Apple's sponsorship of the 2016 Met Gala—announced last week— further underscores this shifting identity. Dubbed "Manus x Machina: Fashion in the Age of Technology," the annual event will highlight the intersection between machine-made fashion and handmade haute couture.
