Apple explains why Wi-Fi Assist isn't eating your data

Apple has revealed more information about how Wi-Fi Assist — a new feature in iOS 9 — works.

Wi-Fi Assist helps your phone use the best connection possible. The idea is that if you're connected to Wi-Fi and your signal becomes really weak, the phone knows to go ahead and switch to your cellular connection.

It's a great feature — and one many of us at Mashable have been anticipating — but it got some backlash a few weeks ago when some users started reporting larger than expected data usage after updating to iOS 9.
