Now you can encrypt text messages on Line

Messaging app Line will now allow end-to-end messaging encryption, similar to what Apple iMessage and WhatsApp allow.

Line calls the feature Letter Sealing, which will store the encryption key on the user's device, not on its server. The feature will initially cover individual chats and sharing location data.

Eventually, encryption will be extended to other aspects of the app, which we understand to be features like group chats and timeline messages
