Tweeting from phones brings out the egomaniac in you

It's a given that Twitter personalities differ from person to person, but what about from device to device?

A study in the Journal of Communication compares the nature of what and how we tweet from our phones versus web platforms. The research served to answer questions regarding the egocentricity, feminine/masculine language, negative/positive sentiments and agentic/communal traits of tweets and whether they occur more from one platform or another.

Led by Dhiraj Murthy at Goldsmiths, University of London, the team gathered 235 million tweets over the course of six weeks in the summer of 2013. Monmobile includes the web, TweetDeck and TweetButton. Mobile includes Twitter for iPhone, Android, BlackBerry and iPad as well as the mobile browser. Read more...
