This Lexus IS was built entirely out cardboard

And you thought the seats in your car were uncomfortable. Imagine if they were made from vertically sandwiched corrugated cardboard.

On Monday, Lexus unveiled a full-size model replica of its IS compact sports sedan, created from 1,700 10-mm pieces of laser-cut cardboard. Lexus says the project was inspired by the company's takumi craftspeople who painstakingly — and precisely — assemble the brand's cars

The automaker also says the model was inspired by origami. Other than being made out of paper products, we're not quite sure we make the logical leap with Lexus on that one. Read more...
