Nest Cam boosts its smart home game by opening up to developers

Nest announced Thursday it is opening up its Nest Cam product to developers, so it can work alongside other products in the house.

Nest Cam, a sleek, Wi-Fi-connected security camera which launched in June, already works with the company's Nest Protect smoke detector, but it'll now work with third-party products that are a part of the Works with Nest program

For example, through the Works with Nest program, the Nest Cam will pick up when you're not home, and the Philips hue lights in the home can respond by turning off the lights.
