Facebook's Nearby Friends feature launches in Australia to help you find mates

Facebook has brought its Nearby Friends feature Down Under, more than a year after it launched in the U.S.

Starting Tuesday on iOS and Android, Aussie Facebook users can chose to turn on Nearby Friends to see if they have any mates in their general vicinity. The program will also occasionally send notifications when friends are close by.

The new feature is optional, but if you're happy for your friends to know when you're out having fun without inviting them, it can be switched on in the Facebook app menu. While you can't make your location open to the public, you can choose to be visible to friends or certain groups such as "family" or your workplace. Your friends will also have to turn it on so they can spot you, or vice versa. Read more...
