Verizon is offering roaming cellphone service in Cuba

As diplomatic relations between the U.S. and Cuba are restored, opportunity for U.S. business increases.

Verizon announced it would be the first U.S. cellular carrier to offer travelers roaming in service in Cuba, in a press release Thursday. Customers will be able to talk, text and use data through Verizon's International Pay-As-You-Go program.

The official launch date for the service is September 21, but according to a Verizon spokesperson, the service is currently live. It won't be cheap though; voice calls are $2.99 per minute and 1MB of data is $2.05, more expensive than the 140 countries that get Verizon's "Preferred Pricing." Read more...
