Your next car might have auto braking standard

Like seat belts and airbags before it, auto braking will soon transition from optional extra to standard feature.

Ten automakers have said they'll make automatic braking a standard feature in their cars, as announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and the Insurance Institute for Highway Saftey (IIHS). While a timeline for the standardization of the feature hasn't been announced, many automakers already offer it as an option.

The ten automakers are Audi, BMW, Ford, General Motors, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, Tesla, Toyota, Volkswagen and Volvo. Read more...
