This South Korean social media mogul is ready for a comeback with video streaming

SINGAPORE — David Jun Je Wan sits in his LA office lamenting about mobile data speeds in the U.S. "In Korea, (fast connectivity) is a right. You have connectivity on top of the mountain. Here, you get cut off in the basement," he says.

Jun has been in LA for the past seven months testing different carriers and phone models, to see which handles his new video-based social network bestAirelive, which launched a first version in March this year, combines timeline updates with a photo gallery and live video, similar to Periscope.

The product's interface is a little basic compared with the competition, but Jun should know a thing or two about social networks — he founded what used to be South Korea's most popular social network back in 1999. Read more...
