The middle-finger emoji is now a real thing ... for WhatsApp users on Android

WhatsApp's Android users got a few new emoji to play around with.

WhatsApp is treating its Android users to several new features including new emoji, custom notifications and a new "low data" mode for phone calls.

The new emoji offerings include, infamously, the middle finger as well as the Vulcan Salute from Star Trek, both of which are available in different skin tones, which are also present in other emoji within the app. The Vulcan Salute is also supported on iOS, though it's not part of the stock emoji keyboard.

The update also added new custom notification settings that allow you to set different notifications for the different chats you're in or mute specific conversations entirelyChats now also work a little more like email in that you can mark messages as read or unread. Read more...
