Major automakers are forming an alliance to tackle cybersecurity

Automakers are starting to get very serious about cybersecurity.

In response to growing concerns about cars being vulnerable to hacking, the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers and the Association of Global Automakers are forming an Information Sharing and Analysis Center, reports Automotive News. The idea is this will open up greater collaboration between automakers in dealing with hacking threats.

A July Wired story about two hackers who were able to remotely take control of a Jeep Cherokee sparked fears that automakers were unprepared to deal with cybersecurity threats. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) launched the first-ever recall for car hacking in response to this, and a host of car hacking stories subsequently came to light. Read more...
