Ball-shaped camera could put 360° photography on the map

It would have been easy for Jonas Pfeil to pivot away from pictures and towards video

Since Pfeil first started working on the Panono camera, a ball-shaped device that captures photo "spheres," back in 2011, the field of 360-degree imagery has exploded

But the emphasis now is on 360-degree video, not still pictures. Witness the Nokia Ozo, 360Fly and even Google's Jump.

Pfeil, however, stayed focused. The Panono is for still pictures only, just as his highly successful Indiegogo campaign promised (he also got funding from other sources).
