The only way to play 'Pole Position' is with a real car

If you've been playing Atari's classic Pole Position with a joystick, I'm sorry to say, you've been doing it wrong. What you really need is a car.

For an art installation at the Indianapolis Museum of Art, inventor and Jalopnik editor Jason Torchinsky created a giant version of Atari's Pole Position using an actual car as a controller. The car's steering, shifter, gas and brakes were wired to control an Atari 400 mounted in the glovebox.

You're probably wondering if this is the coolest thing you've ever seen, and indeed it is.

In an interview with Mashable, Torchinsky said he's interested in "vastly overblowing something that never had any business being big or grandiose or anything like that."
