Oculus just acquired a company that can mirror your hands in VR

Based on Oculus VR's recent acquisitions, we can assume the Oculus Touch won't be the last controller we see from the virtual reality headset maker.

Oculus VR announced Thursday that it has acquired Pebbles Interfaces, an Israeli tech company creating sensors to track and recreate hands inside of virtual reality — without any additional controllers.

That tech is on display in the video below, in which someone was able perform complicated hand gestures and have them perfectly mirrored by his virtual hands

Oculus executives have been very direct in saying that input is one of the biggest challenges facing virtual reality, as "presence" — the feeling of really being in a virtual world — can be harder to achieve without a good control scheme. Read more...
