Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella: Why Windows Phone has a future

Microsoft may have just shut down most of its handset manufacturing business — but Windows Phone is far from dead, according to CEO Satya Nadella.

In an interview with ZDNet, Microsoft's CEO reiterated his commitment to Windows Phone and outlined his vision for the future of the mobile OS.

On the heels of last week's mass layoffs at Nokia, which seemed to seal the fate of Windows Phone, Nadella promised there will be new "premium" Lumia devices launching this year. He said in a letter to employees following the Nokia layoffs the company's focus going forward would be on phones for businesses, flagship devices for "Windows fans" and lower end handsets for "value buyers."
