iOS 9 allows high-quality Apple Music playback on cellular connection
Apple Music users with gripes about audio quality will soon get a boon. The company's upcoming mobile operating system iOS 9 will allow them to play higher-quality music when streaming on a cellular connection
Released to developers this week, the new feature was bundled with the third iOS 9 beta. Users will be able to toggle it to play high-quality music while using their cellular data. The option, which is under "Music" within the Settings app, will be officially released via iOS 9 this fall.
Currently, Apple Music plays lower-quality music when cellular data is used, and better-sounding music on Wi-Fi. At its best, the service streams at 256 kbps AAC, the same quality as iTunes purchases. Read more...
