Reddit CEO Ellen Pao: 'We screwed up'

The backlash against Reddit CEO Ellen Pao related to the firing of popular Reddit administrator Victoria Taylor reached a fever pitch over the weekend. But despite her initial response to community members on Friday, criticism from users has only increased

Acknowledging the outrage, Pao released a new statement on Monday, addressing the concerns of the Reddit community directly

"We screwed up," begins the statement from Pao, which was posted on Reddit. It continues:

Not just on July 2 [when news of the firing broke], but also over the past several years. We haven’t communicated well, and we have surprised moderators and the community with big changes. We have apologized and made promises to you, the moderators and the community, over many years, but time and again, we haven’t delivered on them.
