Android phones officially join the Microsoft Office pool

Got an Android phone? You can now run Microsoft Office natively, no strings attached.

As we reported last month, Microsoft rolled out its new Word, PowerPoint and Excel to Android users who signed up to be "testers," but on Wednesday it made those apps available to all.

Office apps for Android tablets have been available since January, but the phone apps have been optimized for smaller screens. The ribbon where all of the formatting settings live has been moved to the bottom of the screen, making life easier for users' thumbs.

The apps of course have built-in integration with OneDrive, but Microsoft includes support for Google Drive, Box and Dropbox as well. Read more...
