Microsoft axes touch-friendly version of Skype
With the public release of Windows 10 just over a month away, Microsoft is turning the page on one of Windows 8's biggest apps. It's retiring the touch-optimized version of Skype, and pushing users toward using the desktop version.
"It makes sense to use the Skype application optimized for mouse and keyboards use, capable of doing touch, as well, rather than two separate applications performing the same function," Aga Guzik, Skype's head of desktop product marketing, said in a blog post.
