What You Can Learn From Some of the Web's Most Creative People

Sometimes we all need a little inspiration. There are days when everything seems too hard, the to-do list seems too long, and the goal we're working towards seems to have disappeared beyond the horizon.

On days like that, it can really help to hear some words of wisdom from people who've been through the hard work themselves and come out on the other side. In the "Made By"YouTube series published by Tuts+'s parent company Envato, you can hear fromsome of the most innovative, creative and successful people from around the world.

Here's an example featuring Dribbble co-founder Dan Cederholm:

So far, the series has featured actorRainn Wilsontalking about creating media and entertainment company SoulPancake,CodePen founderChris Coyiersharing his journey to a healthier, more creative life, and much more.

There's plenty to learn from each video, but if you don't have time to watch them all, here are some of the quotes that I found particularly useful or inspiring.

Cameron Moll on Learning New Things

If I see something that is fascinating to me or I don't know how to do it, I go after that and I try to I take it apart.

Glenn Jones on the Creative Process

I used to sit at my desk thinking, "What shall I come up with today?" ... I've learnt now that it’s better to go for a walk, go and have a coffee, go out into the garden, because it’s when you're totally removed from what you're trying to achieve that all those ideas start popping into your head.

Chris Coyier on Living Anywhere

The sense that you need to move out to California or you need to live in New York or some other international tech hub just isn't true. You can be as big a part of the tech community from anywhere that has internet accessin the world, and I think people should take advantage of that more.

Dan Cederholm on Mastering Design

Growing up I always thought design and designers were just special people that dedicated their entire life to creating something. It was eye-opening to realise you can teach yourself, you can learn, stay up late, watch how other people do it ... If you get one little opportunity somewhere to push you out of your comfort zone, just a little bit of a leap goes a long way to paving the way for more.

Rainn Wilson on the Internet

I think it's important to use the web as a force for good. You can certainly use it for bad. You can certainly use the internet to degrade people, to gossip, to be materialistic. But to connect hearts and uplift souls and open eyes, that's a great mission.

The "Made By" series is still running, with plenty more new episodes in the works. So if you want to make sure you catch the next one, why notsubscribe to Envato'sYouTube channel, and store up some future inspiration for one of those days when you really need it.
