These are the first five Apple HomeKit-enabled devices

The first five devices to work on Apple's smart home platform are finally here.

Despite rumors that Apple HomeKit-enabled products had been delayed, the company confirmed on Tuesday that the first collection of gadgets to work with its platform now have launch dates. Two are available for purchase now, and one of those hits Apple retail store shelves today. More products will likely debut later this summer and early fall, the company said.

Manufacturers such as Lutron, Elgato, Ecobee, Insteon and iHome have passed the Apple HomeKit approval process and now have products ready for market.
