Oculus Rift coupled with a new PC will cost you $1,500

RANCHOS PALOS VERDES, California — Oculus VR has yet to announce a price for its upcoming VR headset, the Oculus Rift, but now we have some math to work with and, based on calculations, the headset may cost around $500.

Oculus VR CEO Brian Iribe offered these pricing tea leaves in a chat with Re/Code's Walt Mossberg at the annual Code Conference on Wednesday. It's an important admission since Iribe has studiously avoided offering any clues on pricing for the virtual reality devices that should arrive early in 2016.

Iribe explained that if you buy a brand new PC and an Oculus VR, you will be "all-in" for about $1,500. If you need to update your PC with a graphics card, the cost of the card and the VR headset together would be $1,000, explained Iribe. Read more...
