Swedish court strips Pirate Bay of its famous web domain

A Swedish court seized The Pirate Bay's key web domains on Tuesday, stripping the torrent-indexing site of its famous domain, ThePirateBay.se.

The Stockholm District Court ordered that two domains be handed over to the Swedish State, bringing the site down indefinitely. But don't expect The Pirate Bay to just vanish: A source told the website TorrentFreak on Tuesday that The Pirate Bay has alternative web domains it could use to keep the service afloat.

Prosecutors, who had been building their case against The Pirate Bay for two years, contended that because its activities were illegal and infringed copyright, the site's founder Fredrik Neij should be held liable.
