Apple hates televisions, but loves TV

An Apple TV set will not be a thing.

I made this prediction late last year as we closed out 2014 with the absence of the long-rumored Apple television set. Now, a report in the Wall Street Journal confirms this guesswork, noting that the project isn't just dead — it has been buried for a solid year.

According to the report, Apple toyed with a variety of cutting-edge television set features, including a see-through TV and integrated FaceTime cameras. None made it out of the research and development phase.

I’m sure some are saddened by the apparent death of the product formerly known as iTV. People are always itching for Apple to enter a new category and reinvent it. And no wonder: It has a great track record, starting with the iPod (though might argue its first category reinvention was the original Mac).
