'Apple Music' streaming service may bring Ping back from the dead

Apple put its short-lived social network Ping to bed back in 2012, but the tech giant could be bringing it back as a part of its upcoming music streaming service, a new report suggests.

An abundance of rumors have surrounded an Apple streaming service, now presumed to be announced in June under the name "Apple Music," but this is the first we've heard of it incorporating Ping-like social functions.

According to 9to5Mac, a new beta version of iOS 8.4 included a hidden setting for "artist activity" within the music app. This would allow fans to see see what their favorite musicians are listening to and view related photos and videos, the report said. Read more...
