The team behind Project Ara has a new wearable that will 'blow your socks off'

In what may be the best session description in the history of developer conferences, Google revealed the same team behind its modular smartphones and 3D-sensing tablets has a new type of device planned for this year's I/O: a wearable.

Google's mysterious ATAP (Advanced Technology and Projects) group will show off a new wearable that will "blow your socks off," a session description for the May event teased.

What exactly the device is, or how it will work, remains unclear — this is the first time we've heard of an ATAP-backed wearable — but the cryptic wording notes that "blow your socks off," is meant to be taken "more literally than you may think," which certainly up a ton of interesting possibilities (Redditors are already busy speculating about 'smart sock' variations.)
